Busy Little Fella, Hard at Work

Burying His Treasure, Deep in the Earth

Collecting and Storing, For a Cold Winter Day

Leaving No Trace, And Scurrying Away

A Life So Simple, Eat, Sleep and Survive

Enjoying the Moment, Just Being Alive

No Thoughts, No Visions, Nor Concerns at All

Only Natural Instinct, In a World so Small

In an Instant, It Could All Quickly End

Though These Thoughts, Mean Nothing to Him

For Life is Now, Just Happy to Be

Searching and Foraging, So Carefree

The Treasure He Buried, Now Far From His Mind

The Moment Has Passed, He Leaves it Behind

He Scampers About, Forgetful at Best

Living in the Present, With Such Graceful Zest

Life’s Precious Dance 7/12/2022 ©

The inspiration for this piece of poetry came while I was looking out my kitchen window one warm summer afternoon. There before my eyes, I witnessed a squirrel busy at work, diligently digging into the earth to bury an acorn. Not a care in the world, this little critter was totally immersed in the moment, just doing what comes natural to him and moving on to the next adventure. It reminded me the importance of living in the present and focusing on the task at hand.

We can all learn alot from nature and wildlife if we just take the time to slow down, observe and enjoy the “Now”. Because “now” is the only time that truly matters.

Besides being an avid photographer, I write a good bit of poetry as well. In fact, you can see another poem on my website here. Don’t forget to check out my squirrel photo gallery before you leave. Any one of those photos would surely make a great addition to your home or place of business.

I really hope you enjoyed “Now”, and that you too are inspired to live in the moment. Life is too short to worry about what’s happened and what may or may not ever happen. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fantastic day!
